Bio
David Moore is a New York City-based business executive and entrepreneur. He is the CEO of Sonostar Holdings, the Chairman of Garden State Brickface, and the CEO of Register.com. Over the past several years he has served on the board of a variety companies, including financial services media firm CBS Marketwatch, Bolle Sunglasses and U.S. Home Systems.
In addition he is a top New York stand-up comedian and humor writer who has appeared on television and in comedy clubs around the country.
David holds an MBA from Harvard and is a successful venture capital investor and entrepreneur, whose comedy includes observations on business and the economy. He also lectures on the subject of “Leading With Laughter,” how executives utilize a sense of humor to motivate and manage successfully.
In August of 2005, New Yorker magazine published a humor piece by David Moore and writing partner Michael Kubin, “The Nuclear Club” in its Shouts and Murmurs section. During the spring of 2004 for 15 consecutive weeks, David was a weekly contributor/humor columnist for USA Today as one of their experts commenting on the NBC reality show, “The Apprentice.” David also authored a humor commentary on CBSMarketwatch titled “2002: Crime$ and Mi$demeanor$”.
David’s first book is slated for release in 2006 by Rugged Land Press.
As a stand up comic, David is creator and producer of “The Funny Business Show”, a sold out series of comedy shows held at New York’s premier comedy club, Caroline’s on Broadway. David’s comedy and The Funny Business Show have been profiled twice on ABC Television specials.
He is also the creator and host of The Blue Blazer Comedy Tour, which has been performed at, among other venues, Carolines and The Friars Club. He has also performed his comedy at numerous events and conferences, including: Institutional Investor Magazine at their Annual Hedge Fund and Mutual Fund Award Dinners, J.P. Morgan Chase and UBS, among others.
He has opened for comics Darrell Hammond (SNL), Kevin Meaney and John Pinette, and has performed with comics such as Colin Quinn, Sarah Silverman, Judy Gold, Todd Barry, Greg Giraldo, Susie Essman, and Hugh Fink in a variety of showcase comedy shows at New York’s top comedy venues. Other Stand Up appearances during recent years include: The Improv (Los Angeles); Stand Up New York, The Comic Strip, Gotham Comedy Club (NYC); Nick’s Comedy Stop (Boston); Hudson Valley Resort (Catskills).
David is a frequent guest on television and radio performances. He taped an interview/stand up comedy segment for The McEnroe Show (fellow guests were Tom Hanks and Don King), has been a guest on CNBC’s “Power Lunch”, “Wake Up Call”, and “Squawkbox”, and ABC-7’s “Money Talks”. He has been a weekly guest on Business Talk Radio, he has been interviewed by Joe Franklin, David has been featured on the “Left Jab” show on XM radio, and he has been a guest numerous times on the Joey Reynolds Show.
David lives in New York City with his wife and two children.
